I don't recall so many responses giving the same opinion on any other expansion before. There are many reasons why I will dock in a station: to check who is docked; for a safe place to hold up; to change ships or fittings. In none of these does it make sense that I would leave my pod or leave the hanger. In practical terms it slows things down. In terms of immersion it is stupid. I need to quickly swap ships and get back to the fight ū what shall I do? - I know I will leave my pod, have a shower to get rid of the goo, put on some clothes, and stand on my balcony ū then get undressed again and get back into my pod and into the new ship.
Please, please give us back the equivalent of being in the pod and the old hanger functions. Please make it an option from there to leave the pod and appear on your balcony or room. That way I can do all the dock and undock stuff quickly. If I want to get out and do WiS stuff I can.
Making it compulsory to leave the pod is not a solution. Facing a door if you turn it off is not making it optional. This decision was made worse by the fact that the balcony/room is only a work in progress.
I am luck that my setup seems to cope with this unnecessary imposition. My sympathies to those for whom it is crippling their machines. That aspect alone makes this expansion a major and damaging mistake.
On WiS, I am willing to judge it when it arrives. A balcony and a single room is not WiS so I will not judge it as such. The interfaces look good, but are never going to be as quick to use as more boring ones.
I appreciate that some things had to come first on WiS, but it was a mistake by CCP to present WiS as a major part of this expansion or let people take that impression. You canĘt even offer rooms that reflect the stations they are in. If you over sell something, donĘt be surprised when the customers rage when they get the product. Too much hype for not enough delivered in this case.
CCP, in general, you donĘt seem to explain or communicate yourselves very well. There was plenty of feedback about WiS etc from the trials, but that seems to have been ignored. There was plenty of feedback about performance issues and that seems to have been ignored. At the very least you need to be ready to explain why that was ignored.
In general, you give the impression things are designed and implemented in isolation from the actual playing of EVE. For instance, icon changes which look fine when being produced I am sure, but which are a mess in the size and context in which they are used ū salvager etc. For instance, artwork and animation which is a big improvement (turrets) but which are not consistent with the story, descriptions and expectations (multi barrelled artillery visuals). Mistakes like this detract greatly from the positive work.
In your obsession to bring out new aspects to the game, there seems to be a very real risk that you (have) or will cripple the core game. Please donĘt lose sight of that core.
